Diving 2012

http://www.salfordsac.org.uk/

The Club is already looking to next year and some exciting diving!

Why not come and join us? Meet down at the baths and get fit, or try out your gear ready for the next weekend? All welcome new and old members.

This Club might be small but we have considerable experience, knowledge and people who want to dive. We do not spend every weekend training at a quarry, we arrange trips to cater for all experiences! We are a Club and should be proud that we have organisers who ensure the diving is for Club Members!

Looking forward to our next event is the Christmas Bash which again is being held at the Moorside in Disley (who knows what the disco theme will be this year? after the Abba tribute band last time. The venue was chosen by the majority as an excuse to have a night away and a couple of drinks for a very reasonable price, thanks as ever to Julia for the organising. We will folow this with the AGM in the New Year and then to the diving.

A quick thanks to Graham for organising this trip! Long weekend diving with Aquaholic's based in Balllycastle. 14 Club Members and ferrys to catch as well as accommodation is never easy. Delivered on budget an excellent trip to round the year off. Diving from two ribs proved interesting especially as only one had a liift! The pub could not have been closer and proved a more than adequate place to debrief the days diving. We even managed some sight seeing (Giants Causeway etc) The two signature dives are the wreck and a very scenic wall which in places disappears into 100m+ depths. Certainly at times not for the faint hearted dealing with the swell and currents. The weather at times could have been kinder but at least did not prevent us diving.

Roll on the next trip

DRY MEETING PLACE

In the last few months the Club has experienced a number of problems of where to meet after the baths. Its a long story but please stay in touch if not coming down to the pool,The old Con Club is well shut and so nobody there to redirect.

We have been offered a room at the Cheetham Hill Cricket Club which the committee will be checking out this week. I

suspect this will become our new home but watch this space!

Cheers.

Diving Loch Fyne 17th June 2011

http://www.salfordsac.org.uk/

well 12 brave souls headed off on Thursday 17th to be in situ for four days diving with Malcolm at Loch Fyne Charters to try out his new boat Big Blue. The start did not look promising a pub which shut at 21.50pm and not enough beds for the number of divers (great!) However problem solved back to our old haunts, drinking to after midnight and one very sore head the next day (who could that of been?)

Malcolm rang to say the weather was not promising but we could get the gear sorted and dive in the Loch.

First dive on a wall, good vis but weather terrible, so much so afternoon dive cancelled, back to the pub then!

Christmas DO

OK How many Dive Clubs can be organised enough to book the Christmas DO in April! Well this one has and back by popular demand is the Moorside Hotel at Disley.

Julia has made the arrangements (Many thanks as ever!) so start putting the date in your diary and coughing up the money to make this years an even more memorable bash

Majorca March 2011

http://www.salfordsac.org.uk/

Well Fred did the Club proud with organising a three day diving trip to the top of the Island! I knew we were off to a good start when we were collected from the airport by the Dive Centre who deposited us outside our rather nice hotel on the very front at 12.30pm! Hotel bar was shut but was that a problem? Within minutes a bar had been located, beers bought and 3.00am came and went! leisurely start the following day after knocking up the night porter! took us to the Dive Centre and out for a test dive in quite windy conditions, all OK the visability was excellent 30m+ water a warm 14 degrees in dry suits (except Wayne and the Dive guide) most people were achieving minimum 45 minute dives looking at Octopus, Congars, Caves and Tunnels.
